Employability Advice

This week’s Core Skills tutorial was led by our Faculty’s Employability Adviser, who gave us pointers on how to improve our LinkedIn profiles (or even how to make them, for those who didn’t have a profile yet).

A few of the things she suggested:

  • Adding a profile picture, as profiles with profile pictures are more likely to be noticed by employers and/or recruiters.
  • Turning off ‘sharing profile edits’ in privacy settings, as they will create many notifications which could annoy contacts.
  • Listing skills and getting them endorsed by peers.
  • Writing a profile summary, as they are one of the most important parts of the profile.

I’ve subsequently applied all of the above advice on my LinkedIn profile.
